The first benchmarks for Intel’s 10nm series have finally leaked out from SiSoft Sandra database and it looks like the results are straight from Lenovo’s testing labs. The processor in question is the Intel Core i3-8121u and was spotted in a Lenovo 81EY IdeaPad 330-15ICN. Intel uses the first commercial chip on a node to claim victory for its PAO (Process, Architecture, and Optimization) milestones – so for all commercial purposes, Intel has achieved 10nm in 2018.
Intel has been stuck on the 14nm process for quite some time now and has been facing unexpected yield issues with its 10nm process. The usual schedule for release for any new process is the mobility products first, followed by the mainstream lineup and finally the enthusiast lineup. For technical purposes, Intel can claim its milestone has been met with the release of the first commercially available product on that process – in this case the 8121u.
