Was Hisense’s $9,999, 100-inch laser TV just a tad out of your budget? Then you might be happy to hear that the company has announced a new 80-inch version that costs just 19,999 yuan, or roughly $3,140. If that’s still not quite affordable, at least isn’t in the realm of “comically expensive” like its larger sibling.

Of course, like its 100-inch counterpart, the 80-inch L5 laser TV isn’t strictly a “TV” in the usual sense. It’s essentially a short-throw projector that comes with an 80-inch passive projection screen. Hisense isn’t offering a lot of information about the L5 beyond price and size. There’s no word on what resolution the L5 offers, whether or not there’s HDR support, or what inputs are available, for example. But the company is saying that the TV offers 400 nits of brightness, which should be enough to let viewers enjoy TV without having to close shades or curtains.
