Fifteen years ago, Ubisoft released Beyond Good & Evil to critical acclaim. The video game told the story of Jade, an investigative reporter who used martial arts and a camera to fight against tyranny. It didn’t make much money, but fans fell in love and the game became a cult hit.

Michel Ancel—the game’s creator—long said he imagined the game as part of a trilogy and has spent the past decade-plus dodging questions about a sequel, insinuating that one was possible, and sometimes denying its existence. Last year, Ubisoft revealed a teaser trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2 and followed it up with some simple gameplay footage.
