Samsung is bringing its latest rugged tablet to the US, with an eye toward selling it to companies that send workers outdoors, to industrial locations, or to areas with bad weather. The Galaxy Tab Active 2 (Samsung styles with as “Active2” — I don’t know why) was announced last year and went on sale in select markets at first, but it’s now available in both Wi-Fi and LTE configurations in the US, selling for $420 and $520.
The Active 2 is an 8-inch Android tablet with mostly forgettable specs: an unnamed octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (expandable by Micro SD), and Android Nougat. Its resolution is also relatively low res, with a 1280 x 800 display. That said, the low resolution should combine with the tablet’s large 4,450mAh battery for pretty solid battery life. It also has USB-C.
