A report from Axios yesterday suggesting the Trump administration was looking at nationalizing a 5G cellular network has people discussing the potential the standards could have on the evolution of connected devices.
The Trump administration has since denied the report, saying it has no plans to build its own 5G network, and an official at the National Security Council also told CNBC the plans were very early and not likely to happen. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai opposed the plans in a statement, adding a government-sponsored network would be "costly and counterproductive."
