At CES 2018, Google announced the support for Google Assistant for Smart Displays. Lenovo was the one of the first companies to unveil a Google Assistant powered Smart Display, with their yet-to-be-named product. JBL comes in second, with their Link View Smart Display. LG is the third manufacturer to get on board the bandwagon as they too have announced the release of the LG ThinQ WK9.
LG’s Smart Display is set to have an 8-inch touchscreen enabled panel (we don’t know the resolution yet, but it’s most likely HD). It has “Tuned by Meridian Audio” speakers on both sides, while the front-facing camera is above it. The front-facing camera will come in handy for video calling, using Google Duo. While Google Duo hasn’t seen much love from the users so far, we hope that it gets the attention it deserves after its integration with more smart devices.
