The list of devices that can be controlled by Google List is ever expanding. At CES 2018, we witnessed a plethora of devices announcing support for the Google Assistant/Alexa. We now have a long list of devices that can be controlled natively via Google Assistant, some of which include lights, plugs and switches (Philips Hue), and thermostats (Nest), dryers, washers, dishwashers, vacuums, fridges, and even scenes. Now, you can control your Smart Locks using the Google Assistant.

Previously, people using August locks had to “ask August to lock the door,” and those with Vivint had to “ask Vivint if the door is locked,”. It is cumbersome because it doesn’t feel native with a different voice answering you. It is also voice match-dependent so every person in the household has to connect the app to their Assistant account. Otherwise Assistant/Home will refuse to acknowledge.
