President Trump’s Department of Justice is suing AT&T to block its $85 billion Time Warner acquisition. The DOJ says the deal would spell “higher prices for consumers and less innovation for millions of Americans.” AT&T pledged to fight the Justice Department in a court case that could span months or more. The agency’s argument against the deal sounds quite similar to what AT&T and Time Warner have reasoned in support of the merger. [Tony Romm / Recode]
Eight women have accused longtime television host Charlie Rose of sexual harassment, including lewd phone calls, nudity and groping; CBS suspended Rose’s morning program and PBS will no longer distribute his long-running eponymous interview show. The New York Times suspended star White House correspondent Glenn Thrush after several women claimed that he sexually harassed them. And BuzzFeed reports that Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., settled a harassment complaint with a former staffer in 2005. Sadly, there are many more of these stories.
