The big news in the rumor mill at the start of this year was about virtual fingerprint recognition. A lot of sources expected Samsung to equip its Galaxy S8 ( Amazon) and S8+ with the feature. But, according to sources, Seoul cancelled it at the last time. The result is the awkwardly placed rear fingerprint sensor that we got this year. Now, a couple of sources speculate that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ might come with the feature. Samsung’s had a full year to develop it after all. But that seems unlikely according to the latest from industry sources. Take a look below to find out more.

Right now, it’s Apple who leads in the flagship smartphone race. Cupertino launched the iPhone X ( Amazon) with Face ID, becoming the first in the arena of facial recognition. Samsung’s rumored to follow suit, choosing to equip the Galaxy S9 and S9+ with Qualcomm’s technology. But while we’re yet to confirm this tidbit, another doesn’t seem to hold true either. It’s rumored that Samsung will equip the device with virtual fingerprint recognition.
