Apple officially announced the iPhone X last month and while the device is yet to hit the shelves, the rumor mill is gathering some heat. It is predicted that the 2018 iPad Pro models would inherit the iPhone X’s shiny new feature that allowed it to unlock the device. Yes, that’s right, according to a new prediction from the reliable supply chain analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, Apple is expected to add the TrueDepth Camera technology which enables Face ID facial recognition in the next iPad Pro upgrade. So let’s dive in to see some more details on the subject.

At this point in time, KGI expects that the TrueDepth Camera technology and Face ID will only be incorporated in the iPad Pro models. This means that only the 10.5-inch iPad pro and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro would receive the upgrade. What this means is that the smaller or cheaper variants of the iPad would remain as they are or would receive upgrades as per usual. However, since the iPad Pro lineup is the flagship amongst the category, it makes perfect sense for Apple to make the upgrades exclusive to the bigger ones.
