The iPhone X TrueDepth camera has been reported by a well-known analyst to be two-and-a-half years ahead of the competition, possibly prompting Samsung to start work on its own 3D sensor for the upcoming Galaxy S9, according to the latest rumor.
Looking at Samsung’s abysmal facial recognition system on the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and the Galaxy Note 8, a 3D sensing module could present security upgrades for the Galaxy S9, with a bunch of improvements made to the front camera as well.
