Just over a week ago we heard industry whispers that NVIDIA may potentially be preparing a GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card to go up against AMD’s recently introduced RX Vega 56.  We learned quite a bit more about the card since then and it appears that this fabled card is slow but surely migrating from the realm of rumordom to reality.

Let’s start with a short refresher about what the GTX 1070 Ti is actually made of. The new card is based on the same GP104 GPU that powers the company’s popular GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards. In terms of specs, the 1070 Ti is much closer to the 1080 than it is to the 1070. It allegedly features 2432 CUDA cores and 152 Texture Mapping Units, that’s just 128 CUDA cores and 12 TMUs shy of the GTX 1080.
