Amazon has announced its Alexa assistant, along with the Echo, Echo Plus, and Echo Dot devices are available in India starting today. The company says Alexa will deliver a customized Indian experience, which includes a new English voice with local pronunciations and intonation. There’s also support for Indian music titles, names and places, local knowledge and local skills — Amazon’s voice-activated apps — from Indian developers. Amazon says there are already 10,000 skills available in India, including those from Saavn, Times of India, ESPNcricinfo, Ola, and Freshmenu. The Echo costs ₹9,999 (about $154), the Echo Plus is ₹14,999 (about $230), and the Echo Dot is ₹4,499 (around $70).

“Tens of millions of customers are already using Alexa, and today we’re excited to bring her to India with an all-new experience designed from the ground up for our customers in India,” said Dave Limp, senior vice president or Amazon Devices and Services.
