Microsoft took the technology industry by storm earlier this week when it announced the eye watering price tag for the video game developer that is behind many of the world's most popular gaming titles. The company's chief executive officer Mr. Satya Nadella praised the effort to highlight that it will allow his company to spread its presence not only in the mobile gaming sector but also towards its efforts to target the virtual reality platform dubbed as metaverse.

However, Mr. Nadella's efforts to diversify his company's markets left the President of the World Bank Mr. David Malpass unimpressed, as he expressed shock at the monetary value of the proposed acquisition in comments made during an event yesterday.
