Earlier last month, Huawei CEO Richard Yu said in a statement that their foldable tablet Mate X tablet would launch by ‘September, at latest.’ September is almost over, and there’s still no sign of the it and the chances of it dropping in the next five days look grim. There could be numerous reasons for the delay, the primary one being Huawei’s ongoing spat with the US Government. Today, a Huawei support representative dropped some hints about the potential date for the Mate X.

According to the representative, the Mate X will release in China sometime in October. A global launch may follow in November in select locations. We can also expect to see two variants of the Mate X. One will feature the original Kirin 980 SoC that it was supposed to launch with and a ‘premium’ version of the tablet with the Kirin 990 and 5G connectivity. Although Huawei unveiled the Kirin 990 only a few weeks ago, it is very likely that they started embedding it into the tablets earlier. It is also speculated that the Kirin 990 SoC edition of the Mate X will come with the same triple cameras setup that comes with the Huawei P30 Pro.
