Last year, when Android phone manufacturers were launching devices with a whopping 8GB RAM, Google decided to take a step back and launch the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM each. This year looks to be a repeat of a compromise again but in a different category. According to a new benchmark leak, the Pixel 4 storage speeds could be slower than a few 2019 Android flagships. At least the good news here is that we’re getting a slightly upgraded design and more cameras.

The UFS 3.0 standard that’s complied by devices like the OnePlus 7 Pro and Galaxy Note 10, to name a few, gives them significant advantages. Apps open up a lot faster, the UI becomes much smoother with little to no noticeable lag or hitch in the OS. It also opens more doors for users to start recording footage at higher resolutions and framerates. Unfortunately, where the Pixel 4 storage speeds are concerned, Google might shift in the reverse gear as the company could incorporate UFS 2.1 storage in both models launching later this year.
