Amazon ML chief departs to take up DeepMind professorship at Cambridge

One of Amazon’s most senior computer scientists has left the company to join Cambridge University as its inaugural DeepMind Professor of Machine Learning.
Neil Lawrence, who has served as director of machine learning at Amazon UK since 2016, was appointed following an “international” recruitment search, according to the university.
