Shortly after the Galaxy Fold delay, Huawei postponed the launch of its own foldable smartphone, the Mate X, stating that additional tests were needed to be done. This might have disgruntled some customers when the news first came out, but there could be a silver lining in all of this. What is that silver lining might you ask? The Mate X hardware specifications are reportedly getting a significant upgrade.

According to Neowin, who recently went hands-on with the foldable smartphone, stated that the Mate X hardware specifications will include the new Kirin 990. One major upgrade in the camera department is that the device might finally get 4K 60FPS support, as talked about in an earlier report, as a result of featuring the better chipset. The new SoC is yet to get an official announcement, but Huawei is expected to make an appearance at this year’s upcoming IFA 2019 trade show, where we’ll learn more about the company’s mobile silicon division’s efforts.
