In a rare move, Qualcomm announced that it has refreshed its flagship chipset mid-cycle yesterday and the phones carrying the beefed-up Snapdragon 855 Plus are expected in the second half of the year. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10, which will be announced next month on August 7, would have been an ideal candidate for the new chipset but sources say that the U.S-bound model of the phone will be fueled by the regular Snapdragon 855 sadly.

The Note series phones are Samsung’s second flagship for the year, and when compared to the premium S line of handsets, they come with the S Pen stylus, and a bigger battery and more memory. This year, Samsung could have differentiated the phones even more by replacing the Snapdragon 855 with the Snapdragon 855 Plus, which has an overclocked CPU and GPU. Apparently, that’s not going to happen, according to a report from WinFuture.
