For Mike Pell, it’s all about putting people, not technology, first.

As Microsoft’s “envisioneer,” Mike Pell has unquestionably the best job description (and arguably the best job) at Microsoft. “Unassuming, isn’t it?” he chuckles when talking about his title. “I’m a designer and a coder, which to me is the definition of an envisioneer.” As such, he leads Experimental Projects at the Microsoft Garage, a worldwide program that encourages Microsoft employees to explore cutting-edge ideas, even if they have no relationship to their primary roles at the company, and then get their products into the hands of consumers as quickly as possible.
