If a computer program told you that you have an aggressive cancerous tumor and recommended a risky procedure to save your life, would you take the chance?

Just a couple of decades ago, the idea of taking medical advice from a computer seemed like something out of an old Jetsons cartoon, or an episode of Star Trek. Medicine is complex, and it’s hard to imagine a computer program managing to successfully take the place of a human doctor, able to combine many different reports (test results, X-rays and other scans, and patient information) into a single diagnosis.
