Microsoft is shaking up its human resources policies to address employee complaints of discrimination and harassment, and criticisms of an insufficient company response to those complaints. The changes, which CEO Satya Nadella announced to employees in an email on Monday, are coming less than two weeks after it became clear that workers were talking about how they had been mistreated in an email thread.

Microsoft isn't the first technology company looking to raise standards for employees following reports of sexual harassment. Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed that company's plan in November after thousands of employees staged protests.
