Now that Apple’s A12 Bionic and Huawei’s Kirin 980 SoC have been released, all eyes are on Qualcomm to see if the company’s latest chip will be able to deliver faster performance than these two and Samsung’s next-generation Exynos 9820 chipset. The first phone that the unannounced Snapdragon 8150 chips will power, the FlexPai, has already been unveiled.

The new chip will apparently be made using TSMC’s 7nm FinFET process and it might be paired with the X50 5G baseband to facilitate 5G connectivity, which Qualcomm might also sell separately to its partners. The first set of benchmark results have appeared on Geekbench already, but they are based on a reference device, not the FlexPai.
