The European Commission has given Microsoft the greenlight to acquire the development toolmaker Github for $7.5bn (£5.6bn) without any conditions.

In a statement, the regulator said the acquisition would raise “no competition concerns because the emerged entity would continue to face significant competition from other players on both markets”.
