A whole new approach to wind turbine technology is about to be tested south of Boulder, led locally by a University of Colorado researcher whose project is taking a cue from nature.

In partnership with the National Renewable Energy Lab in Golden, CU professor Lucy Pao and fellow researchers from a number of institutions will be testing a small, scaled-down version of a 13-megawatt turbine with dual 105-meter blades, which could dramatically change the way turbines are manufactured and deployed around the world, potentially lowering the cost of such technology.
