Thursday, Apple sent out invites for an event on Sept. 12 at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. The invitation has a picture of the circular roof of the company's Apple Park campus rendered in gold -- another hint at a new color for the next iPhone X. While the invite didn't specify that the event is to announce the next iPhone, September has been when Apple announces new phones in the past. 

Then just a few hours after the invites were sent, 9to5Mac released a photo alleged to be first picture of Apple's new phones. The photo, if authentic, validates rumors of a larger screen variant of the iPhone X and that gold would be offered as a color.
