In-screen fingerprint scanners are expected to hog the limelight in the smartphone market for 2019. Keeping up with the trends, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor too. Contrary to previous reports, all three variants of the Galaxy S10 will sport this next-generation biometric addition, though earlier reports had suggested that the lower-end variant of the Galaxy S10 will have a physical fingerprint sensor.

According to an insider from the display industry, the entry-level model of the Galaxy S10 will also sport an in-display fingerprint sensor. However, to keep the costs down as much as possible, this particular model will have an optical fingerprint reader, while the successors to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will feature ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanners. Qualcomm, which announced the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in 2015, is expected to provide the scanners to Samsung.
