A developer has stumbled upon something in iOS 12 that makes it evident that Apple will launch an iPad Pro with Face ID capabilities. While that will mean you might have to pay a hefty sum for upcoming hardware, it also indicates brand new features coming to the tablet lineup.

Steven Troughton-Smith came across an iPad-ready implementation of AvatarKit. AvatarKit is the software framework that Apple uses for its Animoji feature. Prior to this, only the AvatarKit framework was only included in the iPhone X firmware. Needless to say, iPhone X has a TrueDepth camera which performs real-time face tracking and its inclusion in the iOS 12 beta indicated that Apple is planning to release an iPad Pro with a similar hardware package.
