Apple has announced a new feature for iOS 12 where your location will be shared with 911 if you call for an emergency.

When an emergency strikes and you end up calling 911, telling the address can become a painful process especially if the situation is extremely dire. With iOS 12, Apple is hoping to make things a tad bit simpler. See, when iOS 12 is released later this year, and if there’s an emergency at your end forcing you to call 911, your location will be shared with the authorities safely and securely using Apple’s HELP (Hybridized Emergency Location) and RapidSOS’s Internet Protocol data pipeline. This way, the authorities know immediately where you are, giving them the quickest route to get to you without having to ask you for your address.
