The latest development from Huawei’s chip manufacturing division, HiSilicon has introduced a revelation pointing towards the workings of an even more powerful chipset than the Kirin 980, called the Kirin 1020. Apparently, the Chinese giant wants to gain the upper hand in the performance market against Qualcomm and as the rumor states, it will be able to deliver twice the performance of the Kirin 970, which is a SoC found in devices like the P20 Pro.

Though the Kirin 970 is a powerful silicon for smartphones, it is still incapable of thwarting the Snapdragon 845, which is found in the majority of the flagships. GSMArena managed to get a hold of the news that Huawei is planning to introduce its Kirin 1020 in the future and from the looks of it, we have a feeling that it is going to be taking on the upcoming Snapdragon 1000. Though we want you to take this with a pinch of salt, let us explain why we believe this chipset will be taking on the Snapdragon 1000.
