In recent years, the anti-vaccine movement has become increasingly prominent in the U.S. and indeed other parts of the world. This is particularly concerning given that experts believe increasing rates of vaccine hesitancy—the delay in acceptance or refusal of vaccines despite their availabilityin some regions—are likely fueling new outbreaks of easily preventable diseases, such as measles.

To underline the seriousness of the problem, the World Health Organization recently listed vaccine hesitancy as one of its top 10 threats to global health in 2019.
