Samsung’s Android Pie rollout is on in full force. Global variants of the Samsung Galaxy S9++ and Note 9 are already running the OS (except for the ones in the US), and it won’t be long before their 2017 flagships get a slice of the Pie. Samsung opened up the OneUI-based Android Pie beta program for the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy S8/S8+ a few days ago. But, the program was only for users in some markets, and today it’s being expanded to the United States. Those who own an unlocked Galaxy Note 8 or Galaxy S8/S8+ will now be able to participate in the beta.
The beta bears firmware versions G950U1UEU5ZSAB and G955U1UEU5ZSAB for the unlocked Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ respectively while the unlocked Galaxy Note 8 gets firmware version N950U1UEU5ZSAB. The update includes the latest security patches for January 2019 in addition to Android Pie. OneUI reimagines how Samsung looks at an OS and brings forth several interesting layout changes that purportedly ‘changes the way you interact with your phone.’
