Motorola’s software upgrade program hasn’t been particularly stellar, with a lot of devices still running older versions of Android with no hope for an upgrade in sight. Things have gotten marginally better in the past, and some of the more recent devices get major OTA upgrades faster compared to their predecessors. Today, an XDA Developers user spotted what appears to be an Android Pie build for some users in Brazil.

The update comes with the version number PPS29.55-10. The update includes some “bug fixes and stability improvements” along with the January 2019 Android security patch. At this point, it isn’t clear if the update is an Android Pie soak test, but judging by the size, it very likely is. Motorola often Soak tests major software upgrades in markets such as Brazil before rolling them out globally. The Moto G6 Plus’ Android Pie upgrade started yesterday, so it’s only a matter of time before the Moto G6 gets its slice of the Pie.
