It’s only been a handful of months since Google launched the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, so it will take a while before the tech giant even teases an unveiling of both their successors. However, if the latest Geekbench scores are to be believed, the company might be testing out new hardware using Qualcomm’s latest chipset. The latest results underline that a lot of tweaking is required, which you’ll see shortly.

The alleged device is codenamed ‘Coral’ and the single-core and multi-core test results indicate that the device is using a Snapdragon 855. The single-core result obtained 3296 points, which is impressive and suggests Qualcomm’s latest 7nm FinFET SoC being used, but the multi-core results are rather disappointing. In an extensive benchmark report highlighting the Snapdragon 855’s performance, a reference device obtained 11000+ points on the multi-core side. This might provide more evidence that the device is still in testing phase and will require some performance tweaking.
