Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 is official, and soon, it will make an appearance on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3s and Samsung Galaxy S10. The Snapdragon 855 is Qualcomm’s first 7nm chipset, and it features a new core cluster over its predecessor. Additionally, the SoC features a redesigned DSP, AI upgrades and improved photographic output. With this in mind, let’s take a look at some benchmarks from a reference device powered by the Snapdragon 855.
While a benchmark score won’t tell you how a device feels in your hand, or whether you’ll find it comfortable, it does predict performance to an extent. The most important function served by benchmarks is that they allow a uniform medium of comparison across gadgets and even platform. So, if you’re trying to get a rough idea of how multiple devices differ in performance, and which one offers the highest bang-per-buck, benchmarks serve as a useful tool.
