HP has again rejected Xerox’s $33.5 billion acquisition offer in a move that potentially sets the longtime symbol of Silicon Valley up for a fight with the printing technology giant that could be decided by HP’s own shareholders.
In a letter sent late Sunday to Xerox Chief Executive John Visentin, HP CEO Enrique Lores and Chairman Chip Bergh said “we are not dependent on a Xerox combination,” and that HP wouldn’t kowtow to what Lores and Bergh called “aggressive tactics or hostile gestures from Xerox.”
