SAN JOSE – Officers surrounded a home near Oak Grove High School in South San Jose on Thursday evening in an apparent hours-long standoff that ended overnight, authorities and witnesses said.

The apparent standoff started about 6 p.m. Thursday at a residence near Tradewinds Drive and Eagle Lane. San Jose police officers went there to serve a search warrant, department spokeswoman Officer Gina Tepoorten said.
