SAN JOSE — Hundreds of homes that might become the vanguard of a potential mini transit village could sprout next to a San Jose light rail station and near a busy freeway interchange, city public documents show.

An estimated 203 residential units along with commercial sites such as a cafe are being eyed near the Capitol light rail station in San Jose at the corner of East Capitol Expressway and Narvaez Avenue.
