Thinking of buying a home in the Bay Area? You’ll likely need to make at least $250,000 a year to comfortably afford it.

That’s by far the highest homebuyer salary necessary anywhere in the country, and more than triple the average required nationwide income of $75,000 a year, according to a recent report by mortgage data analytics website HSH.com.
