Two more people were found dead inside the McKinney Fire burn area, authorities announced Tuesday morning, raising the death toll from California’s largest fire this year to four.

The latest bodies were found at separate residences along Highway 96 — an area hit hard by the fire late last week as it chewed up tens of thousands of acres in less than a day and sent thousands of people fleeing the Klamath River area near the California-Oregon line.
