A wildfire has erupted in near Yosemite National Park in Mariposa County, consuming more than 1,000 acres in its early stages and triggering widespread evacuations, state fire officials reported Friday.

The Oak Fire had scorched 1,300 acres as of 5:38 p.m. Friday, according to Cal Fire. The ArcGis mapping and analytics service estimated that the fire had spread to 1,600 acres as of 6:30 p.m.
