As it continues to burn in the Sierra National Forest, the Washburn Fire has become California’s second-largest wildfire of the season.

As of Friday morning, the fire had burned 4,700 acres (7.3 square miles) and was 27% contained, federal fire managers said. The map above shows the approximate burn area in black.
