DEAR TRAVEL TROUBLESHOOTER: My husband and I were scheduled to take the Amtrak Auto Train from Sanford, Florida, to Washington, D.C., two years ago. We received a surprising text message at noon the day before departure that our train was canceled because of a “service disruption” and that there was no other transportation available.
