SAN JOSE — A residential development of more than 500 homes proposed for a San Jose surface parking lot would consist of two housing highrises that would tower over the office buildings in the vicinity, new plans show.

The project would be built at 1737 N. First St. in San Jose at a parking lot tucked away in a north San Jose area that’s dotted with the operations and future sites of a number of tech titans.
