Summer is still a couple of months away, but the calendar for downtown San Jose seems like it’s already getting full — a good thing for those who have felt cooped up after two years of COVID-19. Big events like Music in the Park, SubZERO and San Jose Jazz’s Summer Fest are already in the works.

And last week came the announcement that SiliCon with Adam Savage will be back Aug. 27-28 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center after a successful return during the masked-up, vaxxed-up summer of 2021. The big names announced so far are George Takei, whose meme presence may soon overtake his “Star Trek” fame, Christopher Lloyd of “Back to the Future” and Alan Ritchson, whose making a muscle-bound splash on Amazon’s new “Reacher” series.
