OAKLAND — A new Home Depot store is being proposed in a section of northern Oakland that at present lacks big hardware retailers.

The store would rise on what is currently a vacant lot at the corner of Broadway and Pleasant Valley Avenue, according to a very preliminary proposal on file with Oakland city planners.
