SAN JOSE — A big mixed-use development of homes, retail and a senior care center might replace a San Jose commercial site now occupied by a drug store and clothing store, plans being pitched at City Hall show.

The project would bring 396 homes to a big commercial site near the corner of Southwest Expressway and Leigh Avenue in San Jose, according to very preliminary plans being reviewed by the city.
