MARTINEZ — After nearly 42 years, hundreds of house of police work, and the arrest of a suspect linked via a new method of DNA matching, the book is closed on one of Antioch’s most notorious murders.

On Tuesday afternoon, after a half-day of deliberations, a Contra Costa jury convicted Mitchell Lynn Bacom of murdering 14-year-old Suzanne Bombardier. Bacom, 67, now faces a sentence of life without the possibility of parole, which he’ll likely receive later this year.
