A man died late Saturday night when the sedan he was riding in crashed into a tree in East San Jose.

The man was a passenger in a 2000 Toyota sedan when the crash happened about 11:45 p.m., according to the San Jose Police Department. The car was going north on South White Road when it went off the side of the road near Castleton Drive and hit a tree, police said.
