The Bay Area job market powered to its strongest employment gains in three months during October, a hopeful upswing that occurred before tech companies began announcing a bout of layoffs in a painful retrenchment.
Employers in the Bay Area added 17,600 jobs in October, led by robust hiring and employment increases in Santa Clara County, the San Francisco-San Mateo region and the East Bay, which represented the strongest job gains since July, a new report released Friday by the state Employment Development Department shows.
